Door Sign Lesson Plan
Appropriate for Grade 4 – 7.
Overview:
Using a word processor, design sign for your classroom or bedroom door. It might explain
what you are doing, where you are or contain a special message to welcome visitors.
Activity:
1. Start MS Word.
2. Type the heading My Room.
3. Press the Enter key twice.
4. Press the Tab key twice. Do this before each item in your list
5. Type a list of things you could be doing and places you commonly go.
6. Select the text and change the font, size and style.
7. Choose Picture – Clipart from the Insert menu.
8. Click on a category.
9. Click on a picture then click on the top choice in the menu that appears. (Insert clip)
10. Click on the picture and drag it into position on the page.
11. Click and hold on one of the black "handles".
12. Adjust the size of the picture by dragging the handle in or out.
13. Choose Picture – Clipart from the Insert menu.
14. Click on the Shapes category.
15. Find an arrow that you like.
16. Click, hold and drag the picture onto the very bottom of the page.
17. After printing, cut out this arrow and stick it onto cardboard. Use Blutack to stick it to your poster showing where you are at that time.
18. Choose Save As: from the File menu.
19. Navigate to your floppy disk or folder.
20. Type a name for your file.
21. Click the Save button.
22. Choose Print from the File menu.
23. Click the OK button to print.
