Decorate your Monitor Lesson Plan
Appropriate for Grades 4 – 10.
Overview:
Make a decorative border that can be attached to the front of your computer monitor. It could look like a picture frame or any thing that you can imagine.
Activity:
1. Start MS Publisher
2. Choose the Blank Publication tab from the Catalog window.
3. Click on the Full Page picture then click the Create button
4. Choose the rectangle tool from the Toolbox.
5. Drag out a rectangle runs just inside the edge of the page to form a border.
6. Choose the rectangle tool from the Toolbox.
7. In the top box draw a box that is around 2.5 cm (1 inch) inside the border rectangle.
8. Choose Picture – Clipart from the Insert menu.
9. Click on a category.
10. Click on a picture then click on the top choice in the menu that appears. (Insert clip)
11. Click on the picture and drag it into position on the page.
12. Click and hold on one of the black "handles".
13. Drag the handles to adjust it.
14. Repeat this process to add other pictures to form a border of pictures.
15. Choose Save As: from the File menu.
16. Navigate to your floppy disk or folder.
17. Type a name and click the Save button
18. Choose Print from the File menu.
19. Click the OK button.
20. Take the printout and enlarge it to A3 on a photocopier.
21. Colour it in and paste onto cardboard.
22. Cut a rectangular hole inside the border so the screen can be seen through the border.
23. Stick the personalised cover onto the front of your monitor.
